BCU
Foundation celebrates community contribution
Guided by the slogan "
Community spirit binding generations",
BCU Foundation supports community
initiatives which enrich our culture while
ensuring its preservation for generations to
come. The Foundation made a presentation of
its activities in 2007 to a group of
community representatives on December 19,
2007 at
Toronto's Canadian Ukrainian Art Foundation.
Last year the
Foundation dedicated funds to projects
designed to raise awareness of the Holodomor,
the Ukrainian genocide of 1932- 33, as a
result of the generosity of Halyna
Skripchinski who, in 2006, established a
designated fund in memory of Yuri
Skripchinski, for specifically this purpose.
The Holodomor commemorative projects
included:
- "Not to be forgotten"
- an exhibit produced by the Memorial
Association in Kyiv, Ukraine;
- Holodomor
1932-33: a symposium held November 1, 2007
at the Munk Centre for International
Studies, University of Toronto;
- Production by
the Ukrainian Canadian Congress of the
brochure and reprinting of a booklet:
Holodomor - Ukrainian Genocide 1932-33;
- Publication of
a catalogue of children's art depicting the
Holodomor produced in Poltava, Ukraine;
- requiem " Tryds'iat
Tretiy" produced by composer Oleksandr
Yakivchuk.
The
foundation supports youth and student
initiatives. It provided financial support
for the Ukrainian studies program at York
University, and funding for projects
sponsored by the Ukrainian Youth Association
of Canada (SUM) and Plast.
On the cultural scene,
funding was granted for the production of
works by Ukrainian composers Kyrylo
Stetsenko and Mykola Lysenko, and the
development of such choirs as Musicus
Bortnianskii of Toronto and the Akord men's
choir of Ottawa.
A new designated fund
was established in 2007 with a generous
donation by the late Dmytro Bycyk. Prior to
his recent passing, he established a fund to
support the publication of children's
literature.

Buduchnist Credit
Union is pleased to announce the
establishment of a foundation.
The BCU Foundation was
created to support unique and inspiring
initiatives within the community. The

community cohesiveness.
BCU Foundation accepts
donations and issues tax receipts. Donors
may also establish Designated Funds within
the Foundation. Designated funds are
permanently invested by the Foundation and
the income generated will support the causes
specified by the donor.
Buduchnist Credit Union
takes great pride in its contribution over
five decades to the vibrant development of
the Ukrainian community in Canada. Through
its sponsorships of community and member
initiatives Buduchnist has supported all
aspects of community life from culture to
sports, from education to social programs.
With the establishment of the BCU
Foundation, Buduchnist Credit Union has
created a permanent fund which, for
generations to come, will fuel the
prosperity of the community.
