You can now make recurring online bill payments and recurring transfers by post-dating your transactions for up to one year. Log on to BCU Link and, under the "Payments" option, use the "Schedule type" pull-down menu to select the frequency of your recurring payment (monthly, bi-weekly, etc.) The same can be done for setting recurring transfers between sub-accounts under the "transfer" option.

Government recently introduced a new registered savings account called the Tax - Free Savings Account (TFSA).  The TFSA will allow Canadians to earn investment income tax free. The new account comes into effect January 1, 2009.

The individual owning the TFSA is the 'Holder'. Any individual person ( not trusts or corporations) who meets all of the following three requirements is eligible to open a TFSA:

- Resident in Canada, and
- 18 years of age or older, and
- Holds a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Contributions to TFSAs may only be made by the Holder and the amount is not tied to the income of the Holder.

$5000 is the maximum TFSA contribution limit for each year beginning in 2009. The growth on your investment within a TFSA will not be taxed even when withdrawn from the plan. You can set up your TFSA in a number of different investment options, withdraw your funds at any time and for any purpose.

The newest branch of Buduchnist Credit Union, serving the communities of Oakville and west Mississauga, was officially opened on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 3015 Winston Churchill Blvd. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was attended by representatives of BCU’s Board of Directors, advisory committees, local business people, professionals, community leaders, and countless special guests.

Ontario’s Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Hon. Harinder Takhar, delivered greetings on behalf of the Premier.

The Hon.Harinder Takhar (middle) officially presented a framed copy of the greeting, which was accepted jointly by Oksana Prociuk (CEO, BCU Financial Group) (right) and Theodosij Buyniak (Chair of the Board of Directors) (left).

The event also welcomed the opening of a new Kantor currency exchange site, jointly operated by proprietors Roman Halushchak and Mykola Semczyszyn.

The evening’s Master of Ceremonies, Lesia Shymko, delivered opening remarks, by introducing special guests and highlighting BCU’s vital role in community development. BCU provides sponsorship funding to a wide array of community projects and activities totalling close to one million dollars annually.

In keeping with Ukrainian tradition, the site, as well as an icon painted by renowned Canadian artist Halyna Novakiwsky, were blessed by Rt. Rev. Mitred Archpriest Bohdan Sencio, Dean of the St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral and Rev. Michael Loza, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Oakville branch "Open House" welcomes hundreds of visitors

On Saturday, June 20^th, BCU’s newest branch in Oakville-West Mississauga welcomed hundreds of visitors of all ages during its day-long Open House.

During the all-day festivities, visitors enjoyed an outdoor barbecue, music, wonderful prizes, coffee, and desserts from Marish’s Boulangerie. Even the very young were entertained by a talented clown who specialized in face-painting, while “Lys Mykyta” handed out colourful balloons and gifts.

A number of residents from the Ivan Franko Seniors Home also came by to do their banking and to enjoy the informal social gathering.

In the weeks to come, new members of the Oakville branch of our credit union will be eligible to win 6 great prizes. We wish them all good luck.

Official Opening of new BCU Wealth management Site

As was announced earlier, BCU Wealth Management has moved to a new home at 2282 Bloor St. W. Presiding over the official opening of the new site on May 28, 2009 were representatives of BCU’s Senior Management team, Board of Directors, representatives of the Ukrainian clergy, and special guests.  

Official greetings were delivered by BCU CEO Oksana Prociuk, Chair of the Board of Directors Theodosij Buyniak, and High-Park Parkdale M.P.P. Cheri DiNovo.

BCU HR Manager, Chrystyna Bidiak, delivered opening remarks, introducing the invited guests and local media. The Manager of the new investment site, Max Trojan, outlined the wealth management centre’s plans to expand its portfolios, which have grown from an initial infusion of $1 million to over $55 million.

In keeping with Ukrainian tradition, prior to the official Ribbon-cutting Ceremonies, clergy from the Ukrainian Orthodox and Ukrainian Catholic Churches, Rt. Rev. B. Sencio and Rt. Rev. M. Stasiw blessed the site and bestowed good wishes.
